Concerto for film and orchestra (2019)
Concerto for film and orchestra, for film developers and orchestra was premiered in November 2019 by Lappeenranta City Orchestra. It is a collaborative piece created by four students of the Academy of Fine Arts (Paola Guzmán, Appu Jasu, Verneri Salonen and Lasse Vairio) and two students of composition of the Sibelius Academy (Jaime Belmonte and Tuomas Kettunen)
The piece is inspired in the chemical process of the development of an analogue film: a short film is shooted at the beginning of the concert, it is developed during the performance and shown in the end. The orchestra accompanies the development of the film and music gradually becomes a reality, as it occurs with the images on the film. The music is composed together with Tuomas Kettunen, and both composers have been equally responsible of the musical material and affected each other's ideas and musical inputs.
